Arriving in Patagonia
All five of our partner lodges arrange arrival and departure through two regional gateway airports, Esquel (EQS) and Bariloche (BRC), depending on your specific lodge.

Your Lodge Handles the Rest
Individual lodge addresses aren't published yet. Send us an inquiry and our travel team will walk you through exactly how to get to your chosen lodge.
What to Bring
Your rod, reel, flies, leaders, and loaner waders and wading boots are included in your package. Patagonia's own defining trait is its wind, and its wide swing between morning chill and midday sun, so packing is mostly about layers.
Fishing License
Your Chubut Province fishing license and conservation fees are built into your package rate: there's nothing to purchase separately, and nothing to arrange before you arrive.
Argentina's Patagonia region requires a valid fishing license to fish its rivers and lakes. Your lodge takes care of this as part of your stay, so your guide has you covered from your first cast.
If your itinerary crosses into a different jurisdiction or a specially permitted stretch of water, your lodge will let you know in advance: there's nothing you need to research or purchase on your own.
Passport & Visa
For most American travelers, a valid U.S. passport is all you need; no advance visa or entry permit is required for a fishing trip to Argentina.
U.S. Citizens
Traveling from Elsewhere?
As with any international trip, we recommend your passport has a few months of validity remaining beyond your travel dates.
Tipping Guidelines
Gratuities for your guide and lodge staff come up in nearly every trip-planning conversation we have. Because we set shared service standards across all our partner lodges, our recommended gratuities for a standard 7-night stay are $1,200/guide/week for your fly fishing guide and $700/week/client for the lodge staff gratuity pool, both collected at check-out. Your guide's gratuity scales with your number of fishing days and the lodge-staff pool with your number of nights, so we'll adjust both precisely for a custom-length stay.
Patagonia Fly Fishing Lodge staff would be delighted to answer any questions you have at all about your trip.
Travel Insurance
An international fishing trip is a meaningful investment of time and money; we strongly recommend travel insurance to protect it against the unexpected.
