Shared Waters We Fish
Spring Creek · 30 min east of Esquel · Trout to 16–22+ inches
One of the world's best spring creeks: crystal-clear, shallow, technical sight-fishing. Open January 1 through May 1 only.
Arroyo Pescado is one of the world's great spring creeks: thirty minutes east of Esquel, five miles of clear, shallow water winding through the steppe before it joins the Rio Gualjaina and, eventually, the Chubut. Access runs through a private estancia and is tightly regulated: open January 1 through May 1 only. The fishing is technical, classic spring-creek sight fishing to selective trout averaging 16 to 22-plus inches, and the setting draws serious birders too: flamingos, geese, black-necked swans, ibis, and condors all show up along the water.
